The Valley of Trails is famous for it’s hiking, but there is so much more to do. The coastal weather of Vancouver Island offers hot summers and warm winters, making the Alberni Valley a year round paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
To begin, Port Alberni has long been known as the Salmon Capital of the World. The Alberni Valley took another step forward in the eye of fisherman when the World Fishing Network declared it Canada’s Ultimate Fishing Town in 2010. Whether you enjoy halibut or salmon fishing in the ocean, steelhead fishing in the rivers, or trout fishing in the lakes, the Alberni Valley has you covered.
There are so many other adventures just waiting to be had on Vancouver Island. Golfing, boating, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, waterskiing, ATVing, horseback riding, climbing, caving, are just some of the activities you’ll see going on in the Valley of Trails.
Many of the outdoor adventure experiences will require some imagination and planning on your part, but just as many will happily be facilitated by local businesses who will act as your guide. You may come to the Valley of Trails for the hiking, but you’ll stay for the adventure!
